Ready to start a US charitable nonprofit but too busy to even think about the process & paperwork?
TailorMade is a private one-on-one support project that combines education, coaching and done-for-you nonprofit startup filings.
The project is tailored to your Vision and the requirements of the nonprofit you want to create.
Let me pause to say you might prefer a company that just sends you a questionnaire and uses your data to complete your filings. If so, this may not be the project for you.
This project is about more than paperwork. It helps you lay a solid organizational foundation.
I've talked with founders who hired fill-in-the-blank service providers. They had no idea what was filed or why. Some had to fix problems with the filings and didn't know where to start. I don't work that way because this is not just a paperwork exercise. You're building a transformation engine, and as a leader, you'll need to do that thoughtfully.

- Understand the key elements of the nonprofit startup process
- Create a public charity, rather than a foundation, because the rules are different
- Flesh out your new nonprofit's identity, startup operations, and initial budget
- Recruit, appoint, and train your startup and permanent boards
- Prepare and file government filings, and
- More!
I know you're busy, but this cooperative effort will help you feel more comfortable as you start to lead the new organization. If you want someone who'll hand you a questionnaire and complete the paperwork for you, that doesn't happen here.

The Jordan Hannah Recovery Group, Inc.
LaCharla's program stood out to me because of how it crossed all the T's and dotted all the I's for running a successful Non-profit.
[S]ince beginning my work with LaCharla our Non-profit not only has gotten up and running, but we have also been able to raise thousands of dollars to provide those impacted by addiction with the knowledge and experience of the teachings of meditation, yoga, healthy living, and diet."
Amanda Villaveces, Founder
Mental Health Lou, Inc.
I contacted LaCharla because I was uncertain as to how to create a nonprofit and wanted professional advice. She was easy to work with, very organized, and very helpful with the step-by-step. Our nonprofit is up and running, and I've already referred others to her.
Questions & Answers
Why shouldn't I just create a nonprofit on my own?
You CAN do this on your own, but if you're too busy to learn the process and complete the filings correctly, this project will ease the pressure and save you time.
Is this legal assistance?
No, it's not. This is "technical assistance," meaning I'll follow available instructions for completing gov't filings. To take advantage of your state's laws, you can seek a legal review.
What if I'm not ready to file the forms?
Start this project only if you're ready to file the paperwork within the Project's timeframe.
Why shouldn't I use an online legal service?
That's an option. They'll probably give you a checklist to fill out so they can prepare and file your paperwork.
They probably can't coach you through key non-legal decisions related to nonprofit startup.
And that's what I provide.
Many of their questions don't relate to legal matters. I coach you through those leadership decisions during this project.
How long will it take to create a nonprofit?
It depends. You and I will schedule 1-on-1 time together so I can coach you and gather information for the forms. So your availability and the time you need to make key decisions is one factor.
Also, state and federal turn-around times for processing your paperwork vary. Some states will expedite your filing for a fee, and IRS posts its general processing targets on its website.
I help you recruit and train your first board, and board member availability will be a factor.
Given all this, on average, expect about 3 to 8 weeks to complete the work.
